Altar Servers
Altar Servers
Youth of the parish (5th grade and older) are invited to become Altar Servers. Altar Servers assist the priest during the Mass. It is one of the most helpful and meaningful services that people can perform in the parish and is an opportunity to learn more about the church and our worship of God. If you have received First Communion and Confirmation and are in the 5th grade or older, you are eligible to participate.
Requirements of an Altar Server: Becoming an Altar Server is not only an honor but an important part in the offering of the Mass. You will be assisting the priest in the celebration of the Eucharist, which is the cornerstone of your faith. Requirements of an Altar Server: **Must have a strong desire to serve at the Altar of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. **Be an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and believe in the teachings of the Catholic Church. **Attend Mass regularly **Knowledge of how to make the Sign of the Cross. **Attend St. Anthony's Catholic School or CCD classes. **You must have already made your First Confession and First Communion. **Knowledge of how to receive Holy Communion in the approved manner. **Dress Properly. Dark pants, dark shirt/slacks, shirt/blouse with no pictures or words and preferably of a dark color. Black shoes preferred, but no flip flops or tennis shoes. Sandals are acceptable.
